H2L Themes

We are so excited about the themes we have chosen for this year.  Hopefully you will find inspiration in the book prompts [free lists to download) we provide to go along with our themes.   Also, don’t miss Gil, Deni, and Mary’s personal responses to our H2L book prompts.  Their responses, both podcasts & print, are sure to evoke a sense of connectedness with your past as they share their own family heritage moments.

WINTER FUN
Share a memory (or two) you have that involves playing in the snow.
For those of you who live in the south, perhaps you could describe the first time you saw snow. If you have never seen snow – this is the year to create a new memory and write about it!

WHEN I GROW UP
Write down a simple memory – a moment from your past – that has to do with your career to share with your children and/or grandchildren.  Check the post for a list of questions to get you started!

RAIN RAIN…Go Away!
Do you have a family memory that centers around rain?  A storm?   Playing in the rain?  Were you ever afraid of thunder and/or lightning?  Do you remember the sound/smell of a summer rainstorm?  Did rain ever keep you from doing something special?

Grandma/pa says…
Do you remember your grandparents’ home?  What values/legacy did your grandparents leave for future generations?  Is there something (a quote, saying, phrase, etc.) that your grandma/pa was know for saying?
What were your Mom and Dad’s favorite parenting sayings?  You know, the ones that sounded like, “Put that stick down or you’ll poke your eye out.”  or “Leave a place cleaner than you found it!”
